Equal distribution, different use

One day consists on 24 hours, and nobody who lives in this world only receive partial. Life is quite fair in this sense, time is equally distributed. It is depend on us on how to use it and that what makes the difference. Some people are very passive some people are very productive. They have their own rationale on why they act the way they act. Both are good. To be productive does not mean one cannot become passive for time being. Those who labor in passivity is productively passive! Passivity can be considered good as well, if we define passive as resting from routine or busyness. This is an inner productivity that moves beyond mere busy. However, we cannot deny this fact. When we heard the word productive, the first thing that comes in my mind is to do something.

Well, productivity contain the activity of doing but it is not all doing. But how we then do the things in a meaningful way. Or the other really common understanding of productivity is to get thing done. But is this good enough definition? Especially when we discuss productivity from the Christian point of view.

Having said that, apparently there is a higher dimension of productivity that we need to reconsider. To see productivity in relation to our equally distributed clocks from above, to not just to fill action in time but to also redeem something that we can redeem in our lifetime. Redeeming the time is ''political'' act, it is a showcase of our testimony to the world on how God, the lord of time has given us a task to bring all things to Him, for His glory alone. For Christ alone deserve the best from us. Those who are productive just for the sake of being productive or gains [materially speaking] has not set themselves apart from the worldly ethos. As and ideal, Christian do not say, ''my personal'' ''productive'' goal which is very subjective and could be misleading by our sinful nature but God's productive goal. As Os Guinness once wrote in his book about the distinction of Christian view of time and the world view of time, and it is this as Christian, we are not to seize the time, but to ''redeem the time.''

Very people see that time is equally distributed. No wonder many people becoming less productive in its deepest sense. Many are wasting their time complaining on so many things that they thought are unjust, let say unequal economic distribution. I think, the best way of living is not just to waste our time to complain toward many things that we cannot promptly change [powerless even]. But to help people to be aware and see with their own eyes to the very things that they all equally have, and it is time, then and empower and teach people on how to use their time and fill it with ''blessings'' and not ''cursing.''

This mean, we ought to use our time in the same manner. To redeem it for God's glory and for the other people sake, and not out of our selfish ambition. Time as money, Time as cash are our common way of seeing time and It will be wrong if hat's the only association we make when we think about time. Time is a gift from God, and it is equally distributed with different use. Either one seize it for their glory or redeem it for God's glory. The choice between the two, will determine the true quality of man.

Therefore, to use the time productively, one need to start from the basic understanding that we need to always cultivate in life to see time as a gift [Leland Ryken in his book entitled Redeeming the time: A Christian approach to work and leisure put,  ''Time is viewed as the medium of our existence and something that we should make the most of, under God.'']. This is the basic, this is the starting point. Only by this thinking, we know what to do and our attitude toward productivity will be enhanced as Ryken concluded, ''time is not our possession. It is a gift from God. We are simply allowed to use it as stewards to whom it has been entrusted. While this acknowledgment does not solve the problems surrounding the quantity of time at our disposal, it instills an attitude toward time that can make us value the quality of the time that God has given us as a gift.''
